BSU Transit Service has been student run and the highest paying job on campus since its inception on
​January 17th, 1984.


Who is Eligible to Drive for BSU Transit?

Even though most BSU students have no prior experience driving buses or vans, our training program covers everything needed to become a successful operator.
  1. Must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in a degree program at BSU, and be registered for at least (6) credits. All students must have three (3) semesters remaining after training ends in order to be accepted into the training program, and agree to remain employed during that time for at least 1,000 hours. Therefore, only Freshman, Sophomores, and first semester Juniors are eligible to apply.
  2. Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. 
  3. Must have held a Massachusetts motor vehicle operator's license for at least one year and have a reputable driving record. A Massachusetts license is needed in order to be eligible for hire, as its need to obtain a CDL in MA. 
  4. Must meet and satisfy Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations with regards to physicals and drug screening.
  5. A Class B Permit must be obtained with Passenger and Airbrake​ endorsements once accepted into the training program. (You will be reimbursed once your license is obtained)
  6. You must complete all necessary training to receive a Commercial Drivers License to be employed in the Transit Department. Training and license is paid by BSU and done here on campus.
